Why can we rely on the Bible?        Matt Rowland

Matt Rowland is Student Minister at Christ Church. He will be speaking on the Bible - where did it come from? Who wrote it? How did it get put together? And how do we know it hasn't been altered and changed beyond recognition from its original format? On August 12th there will be an opportunity to think about how we can respond when asked the question: 'You don't honestly believe all that stuff in the Bible do you?'

The Summer Series is an opportunity for us to come together on a Wednesday evening to consider some issues that affect us today and investigate what a Christian response might look like.

Free will and predestination    Monty Barker

Dawkins tells us that it's our genes which determine the way our life goes - Shakespeare describes the 'slings and arrows of outrageous fortune' to which we are randomly subjected - the apostle Paul speaks of us as those whom 'God did foreknow... and also did predestine'. If all are true how do we put them together?

Incredibly, the Bible contains around 2350 verses about money and possessions; that's more verses than on faith and prayer combined! Nick will be discussing how we can be good stewards of our resources and how to cope with the financial and emotional strains of the credit crunch.
