The Marriage Course
The Marriage Course is very practical, giving any married couple the tools to build a strong and healthy marriage that lasts a lifetime. Over seven evenings spent together, couples talk about important issues that can get swept under the carpet in the rush of daily life.
The course is suitable for all married couples, whether their marriage is going well or whether they are going through a difficult season, whether they have been married for two years or twenty or more. The course, while based on Christian principles, is very helpful and relevant for any couple with or without a Christian faith or church background. It takes place in the autumn and spring terms. Following a meal and talk, couples spend the rest of the time in private discussion of the issues raised. There is no group work.
The seven sessions are:

  • Building Strong Foundations
  • The Art of Communication
  • Resolving Conflict
  • The Power of Forgiveness
  • Parents and In-Laws
  • Good Sex
  • Love in Action
The next marriage course will begin on 2nd October 2008. If you would like to sign up for the next course at Christ Church click here.

Further details about the course can be found on www.themarriagecourse.org
This course is for all engaged couples, for both those getting married at Christ Church, and those who attend Christ Church and are getting married elsewhere.
Over five evenings spent together you will learn important tools that enable you to make your marriage work.
You will look at:

  • How to recognise and appreciate your differences
  • The art of communication.
  • The importance of commitment
  • Resolving Conflict
  • Spending time together
  • Nurturing your friendship
  • Making each other feel loved
  • Developing a good sexual relationship
  • The importance of talking about your goals, values and dreams.

The Marriage Preparation Course
The evenings are very relaxed. There is a meal followed by short talks interspersed with exercises and questions for you to discuss together as a couple. There is no group work. Before the first evening you and your fiance will be asked to fill in a questionnaire which is confidential and designed to help you learn more about yourselves and your relationship. You will then be given the opportunity to discuss these with a support couple if you wish.

The course, while based on Christian principles, is very helpful and relevant for any couple with or without a Christian faith or church background.

It is run three times a year. The next course will be running in the Summer term of 2008. If you would like to sign up for this course at Christ Church click here.
