Mission in Bristol
Christians have a long history of being involved in social issues. The Bible tells us that God upholds the cause of the oppressed, that he provides for the poor and needy and that he frees those in captivity.
God expects his church, those who love and follow Jesus, to do the same. 'Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the righsts of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.' (Proverbs 31:8-9)
Christ Church supports, and works with a number of AGENCIES in Bristol. These organisations are working all year round in diverse communities seeking to bring aid in a number of different ways, from counselling to financial advice, and from families to individuals. Above all, these agencies work to demonstrate, show and share the love of God.
THE CALM COMMITTEE (Comunity Action and Local Mission) oversees Christ Church's involvement in, and support of, local Mission in Bristol. In addition the Committee is responsible for a number of activities at Christ Church including community events and breakfast runs for the homeless.
