UBS Pune
The link between Union Biblical Seminary in Pune, India and Christ Church goes back to the early 50's when Ann Tomlin was active in praying the Seminary into existence. It is the largest Evangelical post-graduate college in the sub-continent, and trains men and women for pastoral and holistic ministry in India, Nepal and even Myanmar. Graduates can be found in leadership in every significant Christian organisation and denomination in India, as well as in tribal mission in remote areas.
Monty and Rosemary Barker were invited to teach there in 1989, and have gone for increasing lengths of time every year since then, leading to a very fruitful partnership between UBS and Christ Church. Monty teaches Pastoral Counselling and Personality Development, and Rosemary teaches in the Wives Ministerial Training Programme. Each new batch of students receives a set of books paid for by Christ Church, which for many of them forms the backbone of their library for the rest of their years in ministry.
