Getting to Christ Church

We want you to be able to get to Christ Church as simply, safely and environment-friendly as possible - hopefully the information on this page will help.

Where are we?

For the purpose of online mapping tools and GPS, Christ Church's  postcode is BS8 3BN.
Please think about the way in which you travel here.

We don't have to travel individually and sharing journeys is a way to build friendships and strengthen the community of the church.  We also want to be considerate to those living and working near the church as hundreds of people coming to services and events at the church can have an impact.

People's trips to Christ Church are a major part of our environmental impact as a church family; alternatives to the car are important if we are to lower the church's carbon footprint.  And of course, walking and cycling are good ways to for us to keep fit.

Car Sharing

Coming to Christ Church by car might be your best option, but could you share your journey? Car-sharing can lower pollution, reduce the potential for accidents, take pressure off parking spaces and save money.

We are developing a car share scheme to make it easier to find people who travel from your area or drive past on the way.  In the meantime, perhaps ask your homegroup / small group about who could car share.

Walking

Many members of our congregation already walk to Christchurch. It takes around 5 minutes to walk here from Clifton Village, 10 minutes from Bristol Zoo and 15 minutes from Whiteladies Road. For your best routes:

Then type your starting address in the box (A)
Choose the 'Walking' icon instead of 'By Car', then hit 'Get Directions'
Walking is a great and easy way to improve your fitness and health; walking with a friend is a safe and enjoyable way get to your destination.

Cycling

Like walking, cycling is a great way to get fit and is environmentally friendly way to get around.

At Christ Church there are some hoops fixed to the church building for locking up your bike.  Follow the path around to the left as you face the front door of the church.

Bristol is the UK's first designated cycling city.  Click on this link to visit the Bristol City Council's guide to cycle lanes and routes. It includes a number of downloadable maps for cyclists.

Cyclescheme is a website that hosts the Government's Cycle to Work initiative; there's also an interactive map to find a bike shop near you. Click here.
